A CAR abandoned at the parking lot of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City yielded suspected illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
Special Investigator William de Arca Jr., of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), said Thursday, February 2, that the vehicle was left at the parking lot since January 25 after its owner, identified as Kenneth Mirasol of Silay City, was brought to Police Station 2.
Mirasol allegedly created alarm and scandal while looking for his relative, who was a doctor, De Arca said. He was reportedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
Hospital security guards then reported to police that there are suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and paraphernalia inside the car, but the police did not act on it as the owner was already detained, De Arca said.
Six days later, the hospital security personnel sought the help of the NBI.
De Arca said they were able to secure a search warrant from San Carlos City Regional Trial Court Branch 57 Judge Danilo Amisola on Thursday morning.
Aside from suspected drugs and a tooter, two empty bottles of beer, a lighter, and cigarettes were found inside the car.
De Arca said they will forward the drugs and tooter to the NBI office in Western Visayas, adding that Mirasol could face drug charges.
He said Mirasol was released from police detention after the reglementary period had lapsed and no charges were filed against him.
The vehicle is in the custody of the NBI. (MPE)
