THE seven policemen tagged as suspects in the robbery extortion of three South Korean nationals in Angeles City, Pampanga, last December were transferred in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on Friday.
Police Officer 1 (PO) Jayson Ibe, PO3 Arnold Nagayo, PO2 Richard King Agapito, PO3 Gomerson Evangelista, PO1 Ruben Rodriguez II, PO1 Mark Joseph Pineda and PO3 Roentjen Domingo remain under restrictive custody while undergoing investigation.
The cops allegedly mauled and extorted P300,000 from three Korean nationals who arrived in Angeles City to play golf.
In the affidavit of Korean nationals Park Min Hoon, Lee Jun Hyung and Lee Ki Hun, they said the group of policemen entered their house in Friendship Plaza Village in Angeles City and accused them of being involved in illegal online gaming.
However, after the policemen failed to recover evidences which will link them to illegal online gambling, they forcibly took them along with some of their personal belongings from the house and detained them in a police precinct in Angeles City.
The complainants said they paid the police P300,000 for their release.
The victims initially refused to file criminal charges and went back to their country but after being encouraged by the PNP, Lee Kin Hun returned to the Philippines to press charges against the seven cops.
The rouge policemen, who are facing kidnapping for ransom and robbery charges, received a public dressing down from a fuming mad Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa during his visit to Angeles City this week.
Several policemen were also involved in the abduction and killing of Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo, which prompted Dela Rosa to halt all anti-drug operations nationwide. (SunStar Philippines)
