Man, 54, nabbed in Mandaue bust

A DRUG dealer from Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City was caught in a drug operation in Mandaue City on Tuesday afternoon after police officials conducted surveillance for more than six months.

Roberto Oliverio Gegrimosa, 54, married and jobless was arrested after he sold a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P3,000 along P. Burgos St. in Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue.

He lives in San Jose Dela Montaña St. in Barangay Mabolo.

A team from the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) conducted the buy-bust operation.

Supt. Josefino Dico Ligan, chief of CIB and CAIDSOTG of MCPO, said Gegrimosa, who is known as “Obet,” usually goes to Mandaue City to deliver and sell illegal drugs.

Moari ni siya sa area kay naa na man siyay mga parokyano (He usually visits the area for he already has customers),” Ligan said.

MCPO has been monitoring the suspects activity since December last year.

Ligan said Gegrimosa can sell up to 300 grams of shabu per week just in Mandaue.

The responding policemen also recovered from the suspect’s possession two medium packs of shabu, an improvised tooter, eight empty clear plastics, a driver’s license and a cellular phone.

The police officers also seized a white Honda Civic with plate number GPW 373 that Gegrimosa used during transaction.

The MCPO officials found that the vehicle was registered under the name of Lilibeth Quijano of 130 Tomas Abellana St., Cebu City.

Ligan said the drugs confiscated has a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P33,000.

The suspect is currently detained at MCPO Station 1.

He will be charged with violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
