LPA now Tropical Depression ‘Bising’

THE low pressure area east of Mindanao has developed into a tropical depression and was named “Bising,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. weather advisory Friday, February 3.

Pagasa said that at 4 p.m. Friday, the center of Tropical Depression Bising was at 735 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The weather bureau recorded its maximum sustained winds at 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

The tropical depression is forecast to move west northwest at 13 kph.

Pagasa estimated the rainfall amount from moderate to occasionally heavy in areas within Bising's 300-kilometer diameter.

Sea travel is risky over northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas.

Pagasa advised the public and the disaster risk reduction management council to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin. (Jo Ann Sablad/SunStar Philippines)
