Demecillo to trade leathers with Geraldo

SLUGGER Kenny Demecillo gets his stiffest test to date as he trades leathers with experienced Mark Anthony Geraldo for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental bantamweight title at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Hong Kong.

"We at OPSI are excited with the recent developments for our boxing program with this break for Kenny, Jason Canoy fighting for the WBF bantamweight championship in South Africa on March 31, and the staging of Who’s Next? 4, all of these in March. But we aren’t taking Geraldo lightly. He’s a veteran with a lot of experience," Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI) president Pio Paulo Castillo said in a statement.

This is Demecillo international debut after fighting all of his 17 pro fights here in the Philippines.

The 24-year-old Demecillo has been making a name for himself in the local boxing scene with his exciting all-out brawl approach. After starting with an 8-3 slate, Demecillo finally broke out from his shell with back-to-back knockout wins over very promising Daryl Basadre. After that he drew with former world title challenger Edrin Dapudong in a fight that he should have won.
