A 23-HOUR power outage this weekend, 11 hours on Saturday, February 4 and 12 hours on Sunday, February 5, will affect several areas in Cagayan de Oro City due to maintenance activities and tower lines relocation by the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company Inc. (Cepalco).
According to Cepalco, the 11-hour power interruption, which will start from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., is due to pole relocation and line re-routing along C.M. Recto Avenue.
Affected areas and business establishments include First Consolidated Bank (CM Recto Ave.), Red Planet Hotel, Old Buildings of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, SM CDO Downtown Premier (temporary power supply for construction purpose DT Station), and vicinity near CM Recto and Bitan-ag Creek Junction.
On the other hand, the 12-hour power outage on Sunday is due to line tapping works of the 69 kilovolts (kv) Natumulan Line at the Tablon switch yard and line re-configuration of 34.5 kv at Corrales Extension Corner Mendoza Street in Puntod.
The blackout will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will affect Cagayan Corn Products in Tablon, Alwana, Cugman, Limketkai Mall, Lapasan, Gaisano City, CM Recto Ave., Limketkai Mill, Puntod, Corrales Extension from Gaabucayan Street to PPA and portion of Tablon at Ravidas Compound, Sitio Sapong, Sitio Palalan and Sitio Manila.
Cepalco will also conduct a load transfers which will cause 1-hour power interruption from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and another 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Affected areas include all of Taguanao, Barangay Macasandig including Tropo, Lower Sumpong and Cepalco PV plant along Tomas Saco St. from Capt. Edrote St. towards Fernandez St. including St. Augustine Cathedral, along 26th St. Nazareth from corner 15th St. towards Fernhill St., along Hayes St. from corner Velez St. towards city hall area, along the streets of Burgos and Capistrano bounded from Hayes up to corner Mabini, along T. Chavez St. from Burgos St. up to corner Tiano Bros. St., along the streets of Rizal, Tiano Bros. and Velez bounded from Hayes up to Pacana, San Agustin St., Gaerlan St., Abejuela St., Tirso Neri St., Cruz-Taal St., Gomez St., and Pacana St., along JR Borja St. bounded from Tiano St. towards Burgos St, along Mabini St. from Velez St. up to Burgos St.
Another three hours load transfer will also be implemented from 6a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Affected areas include Barangays Iponan, Bulua, Consolacion, Puntod and Macabalan, Kauswagan highway including RER, NHA and Capisnon area, Upper Carmen, Upper Balulang, Barangay Lumbia including Rio Verde and BPC-HEP, along Capistrano St. bounded by Echem St. up to corner Akut St. including CDO Medical Center, UCCP area, Licoan and Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori School, along Corrales avenue from corner A. Luna St. towards Gaisano Mall up to Gaabucayan St. including Mabulay subdivision portion of Capt. V. Roa St., Luna St., Provincial Capitol and Northern Mindanao Medical Center.
Cepalco said it will restore power immediately after all line and switching works are completed even earlier than scheduled.
