Grade 7 students ‘possessed’ by evil spirits?

CLASSES of a Catholic school in Barangay Poblacion, Tuburan were disrupted yesterday after 27 seventh graders were reportedly “possessed.”

The 26 girls and a boy were first brought to a church across the school and received prayers. They were later brought to the town’s public hospital for treatment.

In a dyAB report, Tuburan information officer Sofronio “Titing” Pintado said the students are from St. Anthony’s Academy.

“The children were so scared,” he said.

Pintado said the first student who was allegedly “possessed” was a boy. It happened past 1 p.m.

Glenda Maguide, nurse of Tuburan District Hospital, said they administered drugs to the children in order to calm them.

Only two students were left in the hospital’s emergency room last night.

Following the incident, Archdiocese of Cebu spokesperson Msgr. Joseph Tan urged the parish priest in Tuburan to monitor the students.

He also said the priest in the nearby locality can give advise to the students’ parents on what to do.

However, Tan said they can’t conclude yet if what occurred in the school was a genuine demonic possession.

He urged the parents and the community to pray for the children.
