Pacete: Bad bananas of the PNP

YES, they are the grotty policemen of the Philippine National Police who are below par in the performance of their duty… to serve and protect. Our policemen should be made again to undergo a Moral Recovery Program.

We know that in our PNP there are more good bananas than rotten bananas.

PNP Chief Bato, the father banana, is overwrought by the behavior of the policemen involved in illegal drugs, “tokhang for ransom,” and illegal gambling. Scalawags in the PNP cannot serve and protect the interest of the people.

There are always reasons why we have abominable policemen. President Digong wants them to bring change to reform the country but some of these men would prefer to do things their own way for their personal interest.

Who are they? Malefic policemen have two or more women in their lives other than their wives. They maintain two or more houses also with expanded budget.

The salary of a policeman could be enough for one family only. Financial necessity will tempt a policeman to engage in moonlighting and later in other illegal activities. He will even go to the extent of pawning his gun… and later his soul when he becomes a hit man of politicians, and protector of gambling and drug lords. There’s no turning back and the exit could be death.

Some policemen, the young POs, are envious of the SPOs who have good cars and beautiful houses. They know very well that these SPOs (senior police officers) have underground transactions not known to their chief of police (or simply tolerated). The young POs (starting from PO1) would want also to wear good attire with gold rings and necklaces. With those things on mind they can be easily tempted.

It is possible that there are always policemen who are very close to the politicians in power. Other than “to serve and protect,” they are also tasked by their politician masters to do extra police jobs… security guards for wife and children, escorts of their bosses, point persons for finishing touches, and companions of the “mi amor” of politicians.

Is the chief of police (COP) of the town or city just tolerating this? Not all chiefs have balls and some chiefs have ropes tied to their neck. The end of the rope is in the hands of politicians. The chief of police knows that he is there in “acting capacity” and if he becomes permanent chief of police, he will just be there for three to five years. He could be kicked upstairs. We also know very well that there are good politicians who have high respect for policemen. We are proud of these politicians.

While working as COP, he could simply do his basic jobs as required by the PNP. Retain his good image for “pogi points” (tri-media and social media exposure), follow the good will of the politicians in his area of responsibility. He does not have much time to run after his flawed policemen with umbilical cords attached to politicians.

Some policemen may have enough of womanizing and now they are into legal or illegal gambling… cockfight, card game, lotto, STL, and jai-alai. Gambling is also addicting. A “junk mind” may push them to engage in “protection rakit-rakit” that controls kidnappers, snatchers, street children, rugby boys, night flowers, watch your car boys, pushers and beggars.

Other POs and SPOs are good gift givers to their COPs. They are assigned in not-so-interesting-areas. They have more time engaging in their personal or family business. They could be made recipients of the scholarship program for fast promotion. Many of them are married to the relatives of local politicians. Blood is thicker than soup.

President Digong and PNP Chief Bato look forward to the moral recovery of our policemen. We know that these bad bananas in the PNP have short life span. Let us give moral support to our policemen who are doing their jobs honestly and religiously. Let us look up to them as honorable protectors, good fathers, reliable brothers, and courageous citizens.

Our local and national officials should give awards and rewards to our deserving policemen. Our country needs strong pillars and men of integrity. We salute the committed and dedicated men of the Philippine National Police.
