Businesswoman mauled to death

A businesswoman died after she was mauled by unidentified assailants near her farm at Pinus-an, Cambogui-ot, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Magdalena Ojayas, 63, of Bawog, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City.

Chief Inspector Luisito Acebuche said Wednesday Ojayas sustained multiple wounds in her head after she was hit by a rock.

The victim was rushed to the Infirmary District Hospital in Sipalay City where she was declared dead.

Acebuche said they received information that the victim had a problem with her workers regarding their salary.

Meanwhile, a notorious robber was shot to death inside his house by three unidentified assailants at Keymens Village, Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City Monday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Randy Trasona, 21.

Acebuche said that at about 1 a.m., the victim was sleeping when three unidentified men wearing bonnets entered his house and shot him several times.

Investigation revealed that Trasona was one of the suspects involved in a series of robbery, hold-up, and “akyat-bahay” incidents in different areas of Sipalay and Kabankalan cities and Cauayan town.

Last week, Trasona also engaged in a shootout with his group at Barangay San Jose due to misunderstanding.

Acebuche said he believes that Trasona’s killers are also members of his group.

Trasona was also the suspect in the killing of Oscar Amalla in March 2015 at Sitio Patiotio, Barangay San Jose, Sipalay. Amalla’s family failed to file a complaint against him.(MAP)
