Baciwa asked to present feasibility study

UTILITIES Consumers Alliance of Negros (UCAN) legal counsel Vicente Petierre III said they are asking the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) management to present the feasibility study on the proposed bulk water supply project which involves the establishment of two injection points.

"We have so many questions about the 25-year contract that will be entered into by the winning bidders for the establishment of the two injection pumps,” Petierre said.

“We want to know how will Baciwa pay the contracted price of P54 million every year, the non-revenue water which needs to be addressed, and the rate impact."

Petierrre said UCAN wants Baciwa to observe transparency in implementing the project.

He said the feasibility study of the project is important to ensure that the contract is advantageous to the water district.

The Bids and Awards Committee of Baciwa headed by Engineer Jenelyn Gemora has set the bidding for the injection pump No. 1 on July 1, 9:30 a.m. at Business Inn while the injection pump No. 2 is on July 2, 9:30 a.m. at Business Inn.

rGemora said the extension of the bid opening schedule was due to the request of almost all the probable proponents to allow them sufficient time to properly conduct the needed evaluation and study to give the best offer to the water district.(CNC)
