Suicide victim's prof not off the hook yet

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The professor and alleged lover of the 17-year old student who was found dead inside an apartment recently is still considered a person of interest in the crime.

This was stated by Police Superintendent Jean Fajardo, City of San Fernando police chief.

The medico legal officer, who conducted the autopsy, pronounced that John Nelson Yumul committed a suicide by hanging himself.

However, the victim's kin doubted the result of autopsy report, saying it is impossible for John Nelson to commit the crime based on the orientation of the apartment he is sharing with his alleged professor-lover identified as Angelo Tulabut.

"Hindi siya makakapagbigti doon dahil nakakisame iyong bubong tapos bintana lang," John Nelson's sister Lira narrated.

The Yumul family insisted that the victim was murdered and suspected Tulabut as responsible for the crime.

Fajardo said that the investigator of the case has already filed murder charges against Tulabut following the statement of the victim's kin.

"He is the the partner of the victim and is the one who discovered the victim hanging in the apartment they shared and later brought the victim to the hospital together with other friends," Fajardo noted.

The inquest prosecutor handling the case subjected it to a preliminary investigation and the suspect was asked to submit counter-affidavit to refute the allegations hurled against him, the cop chief added.

"Suspect is not totally off the hook but the ball is already in the hands of the prosecutor. Our investigator submitted evidences as it is and it is up to the appreciation of the prosecutor to weigh it," she stressed.
