Bacolod sets activities for National Oral Health Month

THE Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) has joined the observance of the National Oral Health Month led by the Department of Health with the theme “Ngiping Inaalagaan at Pinagyaman, Hatid ay Ngiting di Kukupas Kailanman.”

Luningning Esmores, head of the CHO-Dental Health Division, said that aside from dental missions and daily tooth extractions conducted by their office, this month they will host a series of activities in line with the celebration.

They will hold oral health lectures for pre-schoolers along with their guardians to promote and value oral hygiene at a young age.

Oral examinations and fluoride application for these young kids will then follow inside the mobile dental bus which will be featured during their visits at selected Day Care Centers around Bacolod.

Oral hygiene is one of the most neglected areas of health among Filipinos.

Less privileged members of the community would visit the dentist for tooth extraction as the last recourse rather than for prophylaxis or prevention.

This celebration encourages us to prioritize our oral health and appreciate our teeth that give us beauty and confidence, Esmores said. (PR)
