AN ESTIMATED P500,000 worth of suspected "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was recovered at the rooftop of the Male Dormitory of Dumaguete City District Jail in Negros Oriental Friday.

Inspector Mar Louie Salcedo, spokesperson of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Negros Island Region (BJMP-NIR), said the illegal drugs was placed in a small container wrapped by a packing tape.

The jail officers were conducting a regular inspection around 5 p.m. when they noticed the sealed container supposedly thrown by an unidentified person from outside the compound.

The Special Tactics and Response team of the district jail brought the illegal drugs to the crime laboratory in Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office for examination.

Investigation is ongoing.
