AFTER her grueling schedule in the recently-concluded Miss Universe pageant, Maxine Medina is now getting some much-deserved vacation time with family.

The Medinas left Manila during the weekend for a short vacation in Brunei.

The 26-year-old interior design graduate was accompanied by her mother and siblings sans her father.

"I never thought that this moment will happen again except that my dad is not here. Thank you Lord God for the gift of family! I am grateful to have the best support in the universe. Here's to more adventures!" she wrote.

Medina also got emotional when she received warm welcome from her compatriots in Brunei. She even received flowers from a fan.

"Thank you po sa lahat ng kababayan natin for welcoming me and my family here in Brunei! (Na surprise talaga ako. No make-up lol) MARAMING SALAMAT PO! Muntik na akong maiyak sa lahat ng surprises ninyo! Everything is worth it. I am proud to be Miss Philippines - Universe because of your love."

In a previous interview with the beauty queen after the competition, the Philippines’ bet already expressed her desires to take some time off and travel with family and boyfriend Marx Topacio.

“Pinag-usapan talaga namin ‘yun, win or lose, magtra-travel kami.”

Medina finished in the Top 6 of the 65th Miss Universe pageant when it was held in Manila last month. (SunStar Philippines)
