APT boss: No management contract yet with Kris Aquino

APT Entertainment's Tony Tuviera clarified that their only tie-up now with Kris Aquino is for her digital platform and not television.

In a recent roundtable discussion with entertainment editors and writers, Tuviera recalled the initial meeting with the television host.

He said the Queen of All Media articulated her desire to focus on providing digital content after her medical break.

"I didn't know anything what we would talk about. Sinamahan ko lang yung anak ko, si Mike (Tuviera). We sat down. She said, 'I want to get into digital. I think the future really is digital. I want to be there first.' So, sabi namin, okay."

"Then, she said, 'It's about time that we start to own also what I'm doing.' Kasi, sa digital nga naman, siya 'yong ganun. Then, she said, 'I can help you with some of the sponsors.' Ganun lang nagsimula."

From that meeting in July of last year, many drew conclusion that APT will handle Aquino's television comeback, this time with GMA-7 where APT is the leading block timer.

Tuviera admitted no management, more so a television contract, was signed.

"I'll be very honest kasi baka magkamali. Tatama sa akin at sa kanya, ang bigat naman nun. Actually, wala pa rin naman kaming pirmahan sa management. Eventually, sabi namin, kung magkakasundo, that's the only time. But we should draw the line."

The TV boss said they could have given the television host the time slot before "Eat Bulaga," but they are still testing the waters.

He said they wanted to do something new for Aquino.

"Right now kasi, hindi pa namin malaman kung paano siya ibabalik. Paano kaya kung ibabalik siya? Kasi a lot of people are really looking for her. Kaso baka mamaya, kung ibinalik mo siya sa the same thing that's showing before, ang hirap naman. Siguro iba naman."

The timeslot before "Eat Bulaga" has since been given to daytime series "Trops" featuring the noontime variety show's "That's My Bae" finalists.

Aquino, for her part, focuses on her digital platforms while keeping mum on her next big television project. (SunStar Philippines)
