Steel Asia donates 50 tents to Davao City

STEEL Asia donated 50 tents to the Davao City Government, which was represented by City Administrator Zuleika Lopez, during the weekly flag ceremony Monday, February 6.

“We acknowledge the receipt for 50 tents which the city can use in festivals and activities,” Lopez said.

Steel Asia Assistant Vice President for Corporate Communication Ma. Teresa Pacis said they saw the need to donate tents for Davao City's yearly festivities.

She added the City Government has been very supportive to them.

Steel Asia has been in Davao City for eight years, starting 2012.

While the company imports 90 percent of materials from China, they supply reinforcement bars to the entire Mindanao.

The company produces 35,000-40,000 metric tons of steel products yearly.

Officials from the same company informed that recent development on mining imposed by Secretary Gina Lopez does not affect their business.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources recently said they will be closing down 23 mining operations, 14 of which are in Caraga Region.
