Araw ng Dabaw 2017 budget slashed

THE City Government of Davao cut this year's budget for the staging of the 80th Araw ng Dabaw Festival.

Davao City Administrator Zulieka Lopez said on Monday they allocated P10 million this year, reduced by P500,000 from last year's P10.5-million budget.

“It has not yet been signed by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and it is a little less than last year,” Lopez said.

Lopez said the Mutya ng Dabaw 2017 and Civic Parade will again be among the highlights of the celebration.

She said an Organic Fair will also be held as one of the new events slated this year. The event will be conducted at the People's Park while other events will also be held in other parks.

She said there is no theme for this year's celebration.

“We will just wish everyone happy 80th Araw ng Dabaw,” she added.

Lopez said the executive order for the festival will be released this week, and this will also specify the official line up of events for the festivity.
