5 firms join pre-bid for P150-M Bacolod garbage collection deal

FIVE private garbage contractors joined the pre-bidding conference Monday for the P150-million environmental and sanitary services of the City of Bacolod.

Lawyer Maphilindo Polvora, chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), said the five include IPM Construction and Development Corp., FDRCon Company Inc., Metrowaste, Plantex Solutions, and Direct Step Construction Development Corp.

“They are the prospective bidders and anybody can still participate and buy the bid documents before the closing on February 20,” Polvora said.

He said the IPM Construction and FDRCon Company Inc. had already secured the bid documents for P50,000.

The approved budget for the contract (ABC) is P150 million for the 10-month garbage hauling and collection services.

Polvora said the pre-bidding conference is mandatory especially that the ABC is more than P1 million and the parameters are being discussed with the prospective bidders.

He said the two-month extension contract of IPM-CDC will end this month. The contract for collection, hauling, and disposal of garbage and solid waste management services amounts to P14.858 million per month.

Polvora added all the prospective bidders should submit the documents on February 20 for the bidding proper.

After the bidding, the BAC will proceed with the post-qualification. They will choose the lowest, calculated, and responsive bidder.

Polvora said the contract is only for garbage hauling without maintenance, and they will hold a separate bidding for the maintenance of the sanitary landfill.
