UNHERALDED Anthony Alegria stunned his rivals by clinching the monthly finals title of the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba)-organized meet held at NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center Lanes in Davao City.
Alegria, who took a twice-to-beat advantage in the step-the-ladder round, outclassed Oslec Garcia, 197-187. The latter settled for the runner-up honors.
In the eliminations, Alegria rolled a total of 1,669 pinfalls after four games while Fernie Ballano, Oslec Garcia and Toto Delfin occupied the next three places.
Ballano and Garcia each made 1,617 pinfalls while Delfin scored 1,605.
Garcia subdued Delfin, 191-181, then crushed Ballano, 246-209, to arrange a titular showdown with Alegria.
Alegria received P7,000 and a champion's trophy while Garcia, Ballano and Delfin received P4,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. (ABM)
