Payao to face Tinampay in pbf title fight

JHALEEL Payao slugs it with Jason Tinampay for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) bantamweight belt in the main event of Omega Pro Sports International’s “Rumble sa Talamban” on Feb. 18 at the Talamban Sports Complex. The 23-year-old Payao is on a three-fight winning streak somce suffering his first career loss in 2015 against Michael Dasmarinas. He knocked out both Elvis Bicoy and Nicardo Calamba, while beat JR Salvador by unanimous decision. Tinampay, in the meantime, started out 2016 with a win over Marjhun Tabamo but lost to Payao’s teammate Jhack Tepora and drew with experienced Gerpaul Valero. Payao is 14-1 with eight knockouts, while the 21-year-old Tinampay is 8-3-1 with seven knockouts. Jimboy Haya (9-3-2, 7 KOs) faces off with unbeaten hard-hitter Ken Jordan (4-0, 4 KOs) in an eight-rounder for the main supporting bout. In the undercard, Rimon Rama (5-0-1, 3 KOs) locks horns with Joash Jordan (2-2), Ponciano Rimandiman (4-4-1, 3 KOs) takes on Lenmar Precillas (2-3, 1 KO) in a rematch, RR Borbon (3-1-1, 3 KOs) squares off with Belmar Plaza (3-8-3, 1 KO), Jay-Ar Aliasot (4-1, 4 KOs) is up against Eddie Estibat (3-2, 3 KOs), Oliver Genecera (2-0, 2 KOs) trades leathers with Rolien Getalada (0-2), Japanese Octata Masayuki is fighting Johnrey Espinosa, Taiwanese Ming Hong Lee faces off with Wilfredo Ruta, Tony Tuñacao makes his pro dehut against fellow newcomer Eric Pulgo and Cristobal Furoy takes on Roman Getalada (0-1).
