Missing vehicle sticker may help solve kidnapping

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has found a possible lead seen to help the agency identify the kidnappers of a medical intern last Saturday morning.

PRO 7 Director Noli Taliño said that the culprits, who remained unidentified, reportedly used a vehicle from a rent-a-van firm in the abduction of Julian Iñaki Larrazabal-Garcia. Police are trying to find the conduction sticker of the van, which reportedly was missing. Garcia, a relative of the Larrazabals who own Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, was abducted on Saturday morning after his 24-hour shift.

6 drug suspects nabbed, P600T shabu seized

A minor was rescued, while six others were arrested in a buy-bust by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 in Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City at 7:30 p.m. last Monday. The arrested persons were identified as Ronito Campanilla, Winsmie Ligason, Ronald Ripdos, Arjay Dayondon, James Paez and Sergio Pitogo. The drug bust yielded P600,000 worth of shabu. PDEA 7 Yogi Filemon Ruiz said that regular operations have been conducted in the area, but drug personalities reportedly continue to use the place for their shabu transactions.

PDEA 7 willing to undergo lifestyle check

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Visayas said they are willing to submit themselves to a lifestyle check to prove that they are living within their means. PDEA 7 Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz issued the statement following the lifestyle check conducted on the personnel of PDEA Central Office. He said that such an investigation is a welcome move, and he added that they are also willing to take a drug test. The PDEA 7 director said that those will be found positive of using illegal drugs will be relieved.

Osmeña, 2 dads off to Japan for conference

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña will be in Japan for two days to attend a conference on environmental policies and practices. Starting today until Monday, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella will serve as acting mayor in the absence of Osmeña. Councilors Eugenio Gabuya Jr. and Nendell Hanz Abella, including former councilor Ma. Nida Cabrera, who left yesterday will be joining the mayor in his trip to Fukuoka, Japan. After his two-day commitment in Japan, Osmeña will be flying to Kaohsiung, Taiwan for other official engagements. He will be back on Monday.

Alcover denies shifting alliance with BOPK

After reports that some of the Team Rama councilors will join the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), Cebu City Councilor Pastor Alcover Jr. clarified that his loyalty remains with Team Rama. Alcover was identified as among those who will be jumping alliances to BOPK along with Councilor Philip Zafra. For his part, Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he doesn’t want to get involved in the discussions on the matter.He said he has other important things to attend to than recruiting councilors allied with Team Rama.
