Kabankalan farmer yields firearms, ammos, drugs

A FARMER was arrested after he yielded two firearms, several ammunition, and illegal drugs in a raid at his house in Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

Police identified the suspect as Hipolito Abad Jr., 42.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua of Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Kabankalan City, joint operatives of Kabankalan City Police Station in coordination with Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Company raided Abad’s house around 9:30 a.m.

The operation led to the recovery of two .45 caliber pistols with a magazine loaded with six ammunition and five rounds of ammunition, two magazines of .45 caliber pistol loaded with seven ammunition, an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, 58 rounds of ammunition of .45 caliber pistol, and two black holsters.

Also seized were six sachets of suspected "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride), an improvised tooter, and three improvised plastic straws.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and of Sections 11 and 12 of R.A. 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against Abad, who is detained at the police station.

In Silay City, Ronald Europa, 46, was arrested by troopers of 62nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army at Hacienda Herminal, Barangay Guimbalaon on Monday for possessing a .9mm caliber, two magazines, and 41 live ammunition during a combat operation around 4:15 p.m.
