ZAMBOANGA City will commemorate the “Dia de Roseller T. Lim” on Thursday, February 9, marking the 102nd birth anniversary of Roseller Tarroza Lim, the lone Zamboangueno to have been elected senator.

A series of activities, to be spearheaded by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, has been lined up for the commemoration rites, which is based on an existing ordinance.

City Hall information officer Belen Sheila Covarrubias said the commemoration kicks off with the 18th Speak out Zamboanga, a forum for members of the youth sector at 8 a.m. to be followed by the commemorative mass at 4 p.m. at the Carmelite Monastery in R.T. Lim Boulevard.

Covarrubias said the mass will be followed by the program at 5 p.m. at the R.T. Lim Monument near the Western Mindanao State University and the Zamboanga City High School-west.

Covarrubias said the Awards Night for the Five Outstanding Zamboangueno Young Leaders (Fozyl) at 6 p.m. at Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar will cap the activity.

Fozyl is an annual undertaking spearheaded by the Zamboanga Jaycees in coordination with the local government unit. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
