73 caught in police operations in Cebu

THE Cebu City Police Office, through the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas, has caught 73 persons during their "One Time Big Time" operation Thursday evening, February 9.

The "One Time Big Time" is part of the Oplan Lambat-Sibat where all-out police operations are simultaneously conducted against illegal drugs personalities, most wanted persons, loose firearms and all other forms of crimes, said the Philippine National Police.

Of the 73 persons, eight minors, who were on the streets when the operatives came, were rescued.

The police targeted operators of gambling machines and owners of unlicensed firearms.

Superintendent Ryan Devas, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB), said the operation was conducted simultaneously among the 11 police stations in Cebu City that focused on anti-illegal gambling and firearms confiscation.

They confiscated five caliber .38 revolvers, two hand grenades and 19 units of moli-moli and video carrera machines.

PDEA agent Melvin Estoque was also present to handle the arrested drug suspects during the operations.

A manhunt operation against one of the Mago Brothers, a robbery duo, was also launched by the Special Weapons and Tactics after the suspect threw a hand grenade at them. (JOB/SunStar Cebu)
