Enderun, HCDC clash for crown

VISITING Enderun Colleges Manila stunned host Ateneo de Davao University (Addu), 65-41, in the resumption of the 2nd Addu Women’s Basketball Invitational at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center on Wednesday to arrange a titular showdown against Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) Lady Crusaders set as of press time Thursday.

Camille Padilla led the charge for Enderun with 19 points while Francine Geli added 10. Addu’s Ruby Joy Conson and Jantene Uy scored 17 and 11, respectively in the losing effort.

Enderun Colleges women’s basketball head coach Arsenio Dysangco told reporters that they are expecting a tough matchup against HCDC who beat them during the eliminations.

“When we went up against them [HCDC] the first time, honestly we never went up against any team this quick so we tried to patch it up the past few days and I hope that our players will be able to adjust,” Dysangco said.

He also said they will have to take advantage of their size as it would be difficult to catch up with the run-and-gun style play of the HCDC cagebelles.

Dysancgo added that their matchup against HCDC is a huge learning opportunity since they will have to work hard on their speed and quickness when they return to Manila.

HCDC head coach Paola Salvador said they expect an uphill battle opposite Enderun whose advantages are its height and heft.

She said that they will rely on their run-and-gun style of play while she will also advise her players to go for loose balls.

Addu and Xavier University were pitted in the battle for third.
