73 persons arrested in joint PDEA, PNP ops

THROUGH the guidance of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7, the Cebu City Police Office caught 73 persons during their One Time Big Time operation last Thursday evening.

Of the 73, eight were minors. They were rescued by government social workers from the streets.

“This joint operation promotes a camaraderie among agencies for anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality efforts,” PDEA-7 Agent Melvin Estoque said.

The police targeted operators of gambling machines and owners of unlicensed firearms.

The authorities also arrested persons who were caught carrying illegal drugs.

Supt. Ryan Devaras, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) said that the operation was conducted simultaneously by the elements of 11 police stations in Cebu City.

They confiscated 5 caliber. 38 revolvers, two hand grenades and 19 units of moli-moli and video carrera machines.

A manhunt operation against one of the Mago brothers, who are suspected robbers, was also launched by the Mabolo Police Station.

The operation was backed by the Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) after one of the brothers threw a hand grenade at them.

The police caught Glenn Mago, while Jay-R, his brother remains at large.
