Guv wants facility for patients with mental illness

LUBAO -- Governor Lilia Pineda bared plans over the weekend for the establishment of a facility that will cater to the needs for patients with mental illness in the province.

Pineda discussed this with relatives of Kapampangans with mental illness at the Lubao Gym in an informal meeting. The event was attended by patients as well as their caretakers.

The governor said that it is essential to have a facility that caters to such needs to help both patients and their relatives cope with stigma and financial difficulties.

"The facility will help you in case you need to attend to important things and can host your patients for a while," Governor Pineda told the attendees.

The Provincial Government of Pampanga, the governor said, is now looking for land on where to set up the facility.

Meanwhile, officers from the Department of Health and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation discussed the possible benefits that could be availed for people with mental illnesses.

Pineda also distributed food packs and financial assistance to the attendees promising that the provincial government will do all it can to help.
