Queen City dating spots, tips

THE pressure is on for there are two more days left to make things interesting on Valentine’s Day. Congratulations to those who have planned on how every minute should go. But for those who have no idea yet on how to spend the day? Don’t worry. Here are a few tips to impress and, at the same time, express one’s love even better on the day of hearts.

Happy hormones

Endorphins don’t always have to come with a box full of chocolates. Physical activities can make one’s brain go “ooh la la” better than those cute little brown bite-sized goodies. So, one should take his date out on an exciting adventure that will spike the production of happy hormones, which is what romance is all about. Go parasailing in Mactan, or better yet take her out for a day of friendly competition like some kart racing in Mabolo or in SM Seaside City.

Take the plunge

If this is a first date, it might be difficult to suggest swimming as the first activity. But getting wet on a first date is nothing to be worried about because getting to know each other is best done without pretensions. The connection gets even more real when all the “masks” start washing off. Refreshing one’s self in the pool is also a good way to relax and calm the nerves. A good pool in the middle of the hustling and bustling city is Cebu Westown Lagoon near Parkmall. However, a pool with a good view of the city can be found in Mountain View Nature’s Park located in Busay.

Food for thought

Who doesn’t like to eat? Food is rarely a bad choice but it is in the selection process where lies the fate of a great time. It is a very bad idea not to prepare because the dilemma begins when the most dreaded question is brought up. Never come unprepared and ask: “Where should we eat?” Research and reserve restaurants ahead of time. One should get to know his date’s food allergies and the kind of food his date is into because no one knows what will happen if you bring a vegetarian to a barbecue place. It is also highly recommended to visit restaurants that have an interesting history or interior décor. These are good conversation starters.

Plan one’s escape

If reservations and expensive food are not the kind of thing one would like, it is best to be spontaneous and bring the date out of the city. Hermit’s Cove in the town of Aloguinsan, Cebu is one jewel the province has. It is untouched and spending a day there should not be that expensive. It is highly encouraged to bring food and a tent to comfortably settle on its white sand beach. The beach is only two hours away from the metropolis.

Enjoy beauty and aesthetics

A simple and quiet day is also an option for some. Good thing, Cebu has tons of galleries and museums to choose from. Casa Gorordo has an interactive museum and the date can be as interesting as the lifestyle of the family that used to live there. One can take his date out for craft beer in Qube Gallery in Crossroads and fall in love with the artworks of the city’s very own artists. One should also try to drop by 856 G Gallery on A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City, Cebu and eat in the restaurant on the top floor of the building.

No date on Feb. 14? Never worry, for these activities can be useful regardless of what time of the month it is. One can even go out on dates alone; make a statement because love is in the air no matter where, no matter when.
