CCPO arrested 18 persons for illegal gambling

AFTER the suspension of their anti-drug operations, the Cebu City Police Police arrested 18 persons who were caught playing hantak (coin game) and tong-its (card game) in Barangays Mabolo, Calamba, Kalubihan and Tejero last Friday afternoon. The police stations of Mabolo and Waterfront conducted a foot patrol and responded to the phone call of a concerned citizen about the rampant gambling in the area. The arrested persons will face complaints for violating Presidential Decree 1602, which penalizes persons who engage in illegal gambling.


Zamboanga's most wanted nabbed in Mandaue

The most wanted person on the Zamboanga Del Sur list was arrested by authorities last Friday afternoon in Sitio Papook, Barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City. Edward Cañon, 46, a construction worker and native of Barangay Pitogo, Zamboanga Del Sur was taken into custody based on a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Edilberto Absin of the Regional Trial Court Branch 29, Zamboanga del Zur.

Man hangs himself inside pasil home

A man ‘hanged’ himself after he allegedly fought with his wife yesterday dawn in Sitio Magsaysay, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

Hegenio Dacles, 36, was found hanging from a wooden beam with an electric fan cord tied around his neck inside his house. His wife went outside to pee but when she returned, he was no longer moving. She rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead by the attending doctor. Rustico, the victim’s elder brother, alleged that Hegenio and his wife quarreled about a personal matter.


Woman killed, 3 hurt in Oslob vehicular crash

A woman died while three others were injured in a vehicular accident in Barangay Alo, Oslob last at 2:30 p.m. last Friday. Police said Loremy Ewikan Roma succumbed to head and body injuries. Max Alejandreno Dinglasa, Rondel Durangparang, and Catrina Mendez Romero were rushed to a public hospital in the town. Before the accident, a 10-wheeler truck was ahead of Romero’s motorcycle. She overtook it and encroached on the lane where Dinglasa was traveling. Both motorcycles collided with each other and crashed.


Tumulak wants cellphones banned from Jail

To stop the proliferation of illegal drugs inside the Cebu City Jail, Acting Vice Mayor David Tumulak wants to ban the use and possession of cellular phones and drones inside the facility.

This will be on top of the City Government’s plan to install signal jammers inside the facility.

“This will allow the police and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 7 to conduct random inspections for the enforcement of the ordinance,” he said.

A jail personnel caught red-handed will be fined P5,000 and stripped of their honorarium from the City.
