Dranhs routs PWC, marches into semis

THE Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (Dranhs) booked a ticket to the semifinals in boy's junior division 2 after posting a lopsided 52-38 victory over the Philippine Women’s College (PWC) in the resumption of the Gaisano Grand Cup Inter-School basketball tournament yesterday at the Gaisano Grand Citimall Sky Gym.

Kane Montero led scoring for Dranhs with 11 points as teammates Gene Lander dela Cruz and Prince Jay Lord Rabago canned identical 10 points.

PWC leaned on the services of Dan Gabriel Eliseo and Charles Yanong who combined for 19.

Dranhs head coach Joselito Pagalan, in an interview with SunStar Davao, said they capitalized on their defense as he eyes another Dranhs-Davao City National High School (DCNHS) clash in the finals.

DCNHS defeated Dranhs in the finals of the GT Cup at the University of Mindanao (UM) last year.

"DCNHS and Davao Central College are tough teams but we'll just wait who among them will reach the semifinals," Pagalan said, adding that they aim to snatch their first GG Cup title.

The University of Immaculate Concepcion was still playing against DCNHS for another semis berth as of Saturday.
