3 Cebuanas beef up PHL rugby team in Seag

THREE Cebuanas will bolster the Philippine Lady Volcanoes in its quest for rugby gold in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore this weekend.

Auimi Ono, Madille Salinas and Dixie Star Yu are the Cebuanas that have been named in the national women's rugby sevens team. All three are members of local rugby club, Cebu Lady Dragons. The other members of the squad are Rosemarie dela Cruz, Gelanie Gamba, Kaye Llanie Honoras, Helena Roxanne Indigne, Ada Milby, Anna Beatrix Pacis, Rassiel Sales, Angella Camille San Juan and Sylvia Tudoc.

The first assignment of the Lady Volcanoes is Laos tomorrow afternoon at 1:45 PM at the Chao Chu Kang Stadium, followed by a match against Thailand at 4:40 PM.

The following day, the women's rugby team takes on host Singapore and then Malaysia for their final elimination match.

The Philippine Men's national team or Philippine Volcanoes are also competing in the SEA Games this weekend.

Philippines is the highest ranked Southeast Asian country in rugby at 51, followed by Malaysia at 57, Singapore at 59, Thailand at 72 and Indonesia at 91.
