10th APM chess slated on February 19

THE 10th APM Team Chess Tournament will get underway on Sunday, February 19, at the Damosa Market Basket, Lanang, Davao City.

Arbiter Ely Acas, in his Facebook post, said participants will compete in the six-round Swiss format tournament sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).


"Time control will be 20 minutes with three seconds increment," Acas said, adding that open tatluhan and kiddies dalawahan are the categories entered in the event.

Participants in the open category must a maximum of 2050 average rating while those rated 1,799 and below will be given a 1800 provisional rating.

The tatluhan champion will receive P7,000 while the next three placers will pocket P4,000, P2,000 and P1,000.

Top board will each receive P500.

The dalawahan champion will also receive cash prizes and trophies.

Registration fees are P750 (per team for open players), P600 (female and student teams) and P300 (kiddies dalawahan team).

The registration will start at 8:30 a.m. while games begin at 10:30 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own chess sets and chess clocks. ABM
