Drunk man dies in Sanciangko disco

A drunk man died when he accidentally bumped a waiter and fell while in a disco bar along Sanciangko St., Kalubihan, Cebu City last February 12. Police named the victim as Mr. X after they found no personal information. SPO2 Ruth Violango of Carbon Police Station said the victim did not have an ID and no one knows him in the area. She said they are waiting for the family to call. Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the people involved so cases can be filed against them. Man on bike leads in Lapu robbery

Almost P19,000 worth of cellphones were stolen by an armed pair in District 2, Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, Sunday, Feb. 12, at 1:30 a.m. The victims were identified as Mark Rolyn Sandal, 24, Anna Flor Quismondo Sandal, 28, and Sheryl Mae Padro Sandal, 15, all Pajo residents. Police Officer 1 Jack Lord Pogoy said that while the siblings were playing darts at their residence, two men on board a motorcycle arrived in front of their house. Wildfire hits 2 brgys. in Ronda

Wildfire hit two hectares of land in Barangay Libo-o in Ronda town, southwestern Cebu last Sunday afternoon. The police received the alarm at 3 p.m. The fire department and police rushed to the area. At 4:40 p.m., the fire was contained from spreading to other neighboring areas in the village. The flames destroyed shrubs and 20 coconut trees in the lots owned by Raul Pulgo and Lily Rabanes. No one died or was hurt during the incident. Investigators are still clueless as to the cause of the blaze.


Man arrested for robbery

A fireman caught a 19-year-old man whose sister he allegedly robbed in Sitio Sugarlandia, Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City last Sunday dawn. Jude Sasan, 19, was arrested by Fire Officer 1 Christian Basergo, 31, when he robbed the latter’s sister, Christine, a call center agent, at 4 a.m. Christine, 19, woke up when she felt the suspect’s hands on her leg and private parts. Sasan fled with the victim’s phone and wallet containing P10,000 but was caught by Basergo who called the Talamban Police Station for help. Only the phone was recovered while the wallet was not found.


Mandaue offers express lane

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Mandaue City offers an express lane for the issuance of community tax and certificates, payments of realty taxes and free medical check-ups for singles today at the City Hall. Quality Management System head Christine Marie Bolanon said single people can enjoy the services together with senior citizens and persons with disability. Bolanon said the services do not need any identification for proof. The City Health Office also offers a free medical checkup that includes blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid.
