THE weather bureau Pagasa Tuesday said that Cebu experienced the coldest temperature last Monday.
This was the result of the high pressure area in mainland China as against the low pressure area at the West Philippine Sea, said Pagasa Mactan Chief Al Quiblat.
It's still winter in China, Quiblat said, and the cold wind is being carried to the Philippines by the northeasterly wind flow, or northeast monsoon.
At 5 a.m. last Monday, the temperature was 23.5 degrees Celsius. The normal temperature is between 24 and 31 degrees Celsius.
Quiblat said Cebu is expected to experience cool temperatures until the third week of this month.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) canceled the trips of vessels from Cebu to Ormoc, Leyte and Bohol due to unfavorable sea condition.
Even though there was no gale warning, the PCG wanted to ensure public safety.
