PDEA to verify Peter Lim's whereabouts amid rumors that he fled PH

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Wednesday they are looking into reports that Peter Lim, the Cebu-based businessman whom Eastern Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa identified as one of his suppliers of illegal drugs, has already fled the country.

In a television interview, PDEA Director Isidro Lapeña said Lim is among the "priority high-value target" of the agency.

He, however, said the information is still being verified and that they are coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the one handling the investigation against Lim.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte identified Lim as among the biggest drug lords in the country.

But Lim denied the allegation and even faced Duterte in a meeting to clear his name.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald dela Rosa said they are building-up a case against Lim after he was implicated by Espinosa in his illegal drug activities.

He said Espinosa's driver confirmed Lim's involvement in illegal drugs, saying the two even went to Thailand to talk about their business.

Espinosa is the son of the late Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, who admitted being involved in illegal drug activities. (SunStar Philippines)
