Lazatin flyover closure: Traffic route, alternate roads set

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---The City Government of San Fernando has set alternative routes for the closure of the Lazatin Flyover along west Jose Abad Santos Avenue starting February 19, Sunday.

The Department of Public Works and Highways will do much needed repairs on the two-lane flyover for about a week and the city’s Traffic Management Division has advised of heavy traffic.

City Administrator Engr. Fernando Limbitco however, told Sun.Star Pampanga that has laid down plans for that.

“We already have contingencies on that. Of course, west Jose Abad Santos Avenue will not be entirely closed and the east and west sides of the road will still be open. But there will be a need for rerouting or alternate roads,” he aid.

“We will have side streets and roads like those at San Fernando Subdivision, St. Anthony Village and Morning Sun Subdivision opened as well as those in Barangay San Juan opened for motorists to avoid congestion and inconvenience to motorists and commuters,” added Limbitco.

Proper directional signs are now being installed, he said.

“We will also be directing motorists to these alternate roads so the area will not be unduly congested. Plying the routes to the west towards Guagua and Subic and to the east towards NLEx (North Luzon Expressway) will be as usual but traffic will be managed by additional traffic aides to avoid gridlocks,” Limbitco said.
