Family of abused baby gets P10T help

THE Cebu Provincial Government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) yesterday morning gave P10,000 as an initial assistance to the family of the four-month-old baby girl who was a victim of sexual abuse in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City. The baby was abandoned in a farm.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, who visited the family’s shanty yesterday, said that aside from the cash aid, Capitol will also give the family some housing materials and provide assistance in checking the condition of the child.

The baby, whose mother is a rice cake vendor, is now in stable condition.

Marivic Garces, head of the PSWDO said the Social Welfare office will also assist the baby’s parents in filing the case in court to see to it that the perpetrator will be convicted.

Garces said that the Provincial Government sent engineers to Perrelos to determine the cost of construction materials that are needed in completing the house of the victim.

The suspect, Jonathan Marfe, is now in the custody of the Carcar City Police Station. Jona Godinez, USJ-R Intern
