Man face raps for gambling

A MAN arrested for allegedly collecting bets for “last two” in Tibungco District, Davao City is facing charges before the court.

Charged with violation of the Republic Act 9287, otherwise known as an act increasing the Penalties for Illegal Numbers Games, is Johnny Lancien Galos, a resident from Alingit in Tibungco.

Galos was arrested about 7 p.m. on February 5, Sunday, at Purok 11 in Barangay Alingit after the police caught him in the act of collecting bets.

Recovered from the possession of the accused were three pads of unused tally sheets, three used tall sheets, one last two guide sheet, stub pad, and six stub sheets.

Police also recovered from the accused one color flesh tupperware, one black ballpen, and bet money worth P530 in different denominations.

In a resolution dated February 8, prosecutor Faizal Padate found probable cause to charge the accused based on the complaint filed by Police Officer 1 Bryan Pequeño of the Bunawan police station.

“We find the apprehension of the accused valid under the Revised Rules on Criminal Procedure. He was apprehended while committing a crime before the apprehending officer,” Padate said.

The accused is currently detained at the Bunawan Police Station.
