Mayor pushes for moratorium on lot reclassification

MANDAUE City Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing requested the City Council to pass a resolution declaring a six-month moratorium on the implementation of the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).

This, so that cargo and logistics companies at the North Reclamation Area in Barangays Tipolo and Subangdaku can prepare for their transfer.

The City Government held in abeyance the processing of the business permits of the cargo and logistics companies because their location did not conform to City Ordinance 14-2016-1119 or the City’s CLUP.

Their areas are classified as “planned unit of development 1,” which is intended for trade or commercial establishments.

In his letter addressed to the City Council dated Feb. 10, Quisumbing said the moratorium will apply to all establishments operating trucking services and container yards at the City Special Economic Administrative Zone in Tipolo and Subangdaku.

“The present situation requires further coordination and consultation with these business entities considering that they will be directly affected by the land use reclassification or rezoning,” the mayor said.
