Over 90 teams expected in 1st Puma Se7ens Cup

TWO weeks to go before the 1st Puma Se7ens Cup Visayas Leg set on March 4-5 at the San Julio Realty football fields in San Carlos City, 93 teams have already confirmed their entries in 13 categories.

These include boys and girls U9 mixed, U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 age groups, and the Men and Women’s Open.

San Carlos City Football Cup General Secretary John Carmona said the event will serve as the Visayas qualifying rounds for a bigger national championship in summer, which San Carlos City also bid to host.

“With the remaining dates, we would be able to achieve the expected 200 teams but cannot exceed it because it will be too crowded,” he added.

San Carlos City football coordinator Jose Dennis Peñalosa said the city has enough fields to play.

“We also assure participants that the games will be finished before sunsets,” he added.

Puma’s Joemar Moscaya said that it’s Puma’s commitment to bring football in the provinces to give opportunities for provincial-based footballers to experience competitive football.

“While many asked for an 11-a-side standard tournament, we pushed for 7-a-side to have more teams playing – aside from having fast-pace matches,” he added.

Registration is P2,000 per team. Interested teams may contact Peñalosa at (0922)2103449 or (0905)2910534, or Carmona at (0906)3647915 for more details.
