A PRIVATE university’s research station will shelter a green sea turtle that washed ashore in Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City at 2:30 p.m. yesterday.

The turtle was weak when a fisherman found it in Sitio Lupa, said City Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Officer Roderico Tagaan.

Fishermen who saw the creature immediately called the police for help, and the latter informed the CENR Office.

Ang mananagat maayo wa hilabti. Kani nga turtle endangered ni (We are glad that the fisherman did not harm it. This type of turtle is endangered),” Tagaan said.

Cenro, together with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer and personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, brought the sea turtle to the San Carlos Marine Sanctuary in Barangay Maribago for observation.

The turtle will stay in the sanctuary and research center of the University of San Carlos until it regains its strength.
