Calinan evacuees get goods from social services

DAVAO City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) has distributed food packs to the 882 families living in the villages of Lacson and Lamanan, Calinan, Davao City, who were advised to sleep overnight in the village centers for three days due to the firefight in the area.

CSSDO head Maria Luisa Bermudo said their team distributed food packs that contain two kilos rice, noodles and sardines, to a total 762 families in Lamanan village and 120 families in Lacson village.

She said community cooking was done in the area last Thursday, February 16, while the distribution of the food packs was done Friday morning around 3 a.m.

“I was advised by the social worker in the area na three days daw ang operations so ang mga tao giingnan na matulog sa centro(I was advised by the social worker in the area that the operation will be for three days so the residents were advised to sleep in the barangay (village) centers,” Bermudo said.

The CSSDO head said the residents are now staying in school sites, the village hall, and covered court but most of the residents were accommodated by their relatives who live in the village centers.

Activities for those who are staying in the evacuation centers are being prepared, Bermudo said.

She added they are conducting masterlisting for that purpose.

Bermudo said they will distribute food for the residents until the time they will be advised to return to their homes.
