Village official, wife, wounded in gun attack

A VILLAGE official and his wife survived a gun slay attempt by motorcycle riding men Friday morning, police said Saturday, February 18.

Senior Superintendent Sofronio Ecaldre, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the victim as Jerry Señara, 35, barangay captain of Saad, Dumingag in Zamboanga del Sur, and his wife, Lorna, also 35. Both sustained gunshot wounds and are now confined in a hospital.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, in the village of San Pedro.

Ecaldre said the couple was walking along the street near the municipal gymnasium when two men riding in a motorcycle stopped and shot them.

The suspects sped off after the incident. They remained unidentified.

Ecaldre has ordered the police in Dumingag town to look into all possible motives in the conduct of the investigation to establish the motive as well as identify the suspects.(Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
