NATIONAL University (NU) netter Jeleardo Amazona, who hails from Banaybanay in Davao Oriental, booked a ticket to the final after beating his semifinals rival on day 2 of the 4th National Students Championship Qualifying Tryouts-Graham C. Lim Classic Cup at the Ecoland Phase 4 Tennis Club Courts here Saturday.
Amazona, who also played for Davao City in the 9th Bimp-Eaga Friendship Games in Samarinda, East Kalimantan in Indonesia, spanked Jay Kabigting of the University of Mindanao (UM), 6-4, 6-0 to reach the championship opposite a still undetermined opponent.
Reagan Sorima of Notre Dame of Marbel outclassed UM's Aldwin Libaton, 6-4, 7-5, in their quarterfinals encounter.
Sorima was still playing Jonathan Palac of UM as of Saturday. The winner will arrange a titular showdown with Amazona at 9 a.m. Sunday, February 19.
The women's semifinals matches pit Sharryl delos Santos of Holy Trinity College of General Santos City against Jhullie Elle of UM and Lian Dizon against Doriz Bagohin of UM.
A total of 48 entries competed in the three-day tournament that offers all-expense paid trip to a Chinese Taipei competition to the top men's and women's players.
