PRIDE. No less than crooner David Pomeranz spoke highly of Cebu and its people, our own brand of hospitality and warmth, our delicious food and everything else Cebuano. “Even your sunshine here is so nice to experience,” he said during a press conference.

ACTOR. It is his passion for acting that drove Dan Sy Lopez to “give up” his nursing career in favor of entertainment. Dan starred in CCTN teledramas Teenage Diary and Paghigmata. He said Dante Luzon, Lormil Cabrera-de Gracia, Rutchell Borbajo, Joan Amores, Debbie Sta. Cruz, Noel Jumao-as and yours truly are some of his idols as far as acting is concerned.

CHALLENGES. “My dream role is to portray a deaf-mute or multiple personalities or characters, as this will bring out the finest in me as an actor,” Dan said. At present, Dan stars in Kikoy and Lucing and will soon start shooting for another teledrama tentatively titled Ana Guada in March.

CONCERT. On Saturday, Feb. 25, all roads lead to Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino where the incomparable concert pianist Dr. Ingrid Sala-Santamaria will be staging her Ingrid: Grand Finale concert. Backing her up are the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra and Peace Philharmonic Philippines. Siblings Hazel Sanchez and Hannah Go, as well as their supportive parents Greg and Louella Magdadaro, are producing the show which is actually Santamaria’s 77th birthday concert.

ENTERTAINERS. The Cebu Entertainers’ Association Corp., headed by veteran songbird Babyluz Condeno, will have its oath-taking ceremony on March 3 at a local restaurant. Singing priest Fr. Jonas Mejares, OSA will be the guest speaker and inducting officer. Cheers!
