Jo de Vivre: Summer’s last hurrahs

AYALA Center Cebu held an end-of-summer lifestyle event called Sartorial Summer at The Gallery, where guests were treated to a fashion show featuring some of the mall’s newest brands, such as Herschel, Grind, General, DC and Pepe Jeans. The bead buffet from Island Girl was a big hit, as everyone excitedly pored through beads of a dozen shapes and sizes to create their own headpieces, necklaces and bracelets.

I caught the second and last show of this year’s run of The Vagina Monologues last Saturday at Space 150 of The Henry Hotel in Banilad. Although it was my second time to see the show, the performances were no less riveting than those from last year’s show. Many “vagina warriors” from previous productions were back, and were also joined by new warriors this year. The play isn’t just about giving voice to things women may not have the courage to say or of other stories untold, but is also part of a movement to end violence against women and children. The shows were directed by Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson and produced by 2tincans Philippines Inc. for the benefit of Bidlisiw Foundation Inc.
