More diners sought at new location

FRANCHISED restaurant Hainanese Delights is aiming to capture a good share of Cebu’s flourishing dining market as it relocates to Parkmall in Mandaue City.

Managed by a father and daughter tandem, the three-year old restaurant is offering Singaporean food that is friendly on the pocket.

“We relocated to Parkmall because the location offers promising growth for the business, especially in terms of foot traffic,” said Alyssa Verar, a graduating management accounting student who handles the family’s food business.

Her father Alex Verar brought the brand to Cebu so Cebuanos could taste the best of Singaporean food, according to Alyssa. Alex is the restaurant’s general manager.

She said one of its best sellers is hainanese chicken, a popular Chinese style of preparing steamed chicken.

The Verars opened Hainanese Delights in Robinsons Cybergate in 2013. The family is also into wholesale and distribution.

Inspiration

Hainanese Delights is their first venture into food.

“This food business was inspired by our travels abroad. Back in Manila, this is also one of my father’s favorite restaurants, so we brought it here,” said Alyssa, who is juggling her studies with overseeing the restaurant’s operations.

Hainanese Delights occupies 65 square meters in Parkmall. It can accommodate up to 60 customers.

The restaurant, according to Alyssa, is popular among mature and young diners. They are also frequented by Chinese and other foreign customers.
