Driver’s license card ready for release

THE DEPARTMENT of Transportation - Cordillera Administrative Region (DOTr-CAR) through the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the region have started to release license cards of drivers on Monday.

DOTC-CAR chief of staff Atty. Arvin Andaya said they have started releasing the 9,000 license cards to drivers.

"Good news sa mga drivers, ang office ng LTO sa Cordillera ay may distribution ng mga driver’s license cards", Andaya said.

Andaya said the distribution of cards will cover drivers who have not yet received their cards from 2015 and 2016 and those who have renewed their license this year.

The DOTr official clarified the backlog of driver’s license card distribution was caused by the supplier from the national office.

Currently, at least 15,000 drivers will receive their license card on a first come first serve basis.

Drivers however need to present and give photocopies of their receipt during their application and a valid identification card in the LTO office where they applied.

The DOTr-CAR official meanwhile said only 9,000 card will be available for the first batch while the remaining license cards will be delivered soon.

LTO announced they will begin processing the 5-year validity of driver's license starting October last year under Administrative Order (AO) No. 2016-034.

However, they can only process the necessary documents as they will not be able to provide the license cards yet.
