LizQuen, Ssssuper Ka!

How is love defined in this movie, My Ex and Whys?

LIZA: Love is defined by trust. You’re gonna see how “Cali” lost her trust towards “Gio” and men, in general, and for love itself. And you will see how she regains her trust again towards love and Gio and how she finally learns how to forgive.

ENRIQUE: May isang message po kasi at the end of the movie sa pinakadulo before mag-credits, you will see a one-liner pop out, yun talaga ang message ng movie, so you have to wait till the end. May hugot line doon that explains the message of the movie.

Did you encounter some challenges?

ENRIQUE: Opo, sobra. Kasi hindi pa namin naranasan yung naranasan ng mga character namin. Ako hindi ko pa naranasan na manloko ng babae. Si Liza never din siya nakaranas na may manloko sa kanya.

LIZA: I haven’t been in a relationship yet and I don’t know what it feels like that. “Cali” is a very mature character for me to portray as well. Her maturity and her wisdom are totally new for me. I have never experienced it in real life. That alone made it really hard for me.

What’s the most difficult scene for you?

LIZA: Yung sa trailer, yung “pangit ba ako?” cuz it took us eight hours shooting that scene alone. Actually, two days, the first day, in the middle of the scene, pinak-up ni Direk Cathy Gacia Molina yung shoot because nakita po niya na ubos na ako, di ko na kayang maglabas ng emotion. When we shot the second day, it took me eight hours cuz it’s really difficult po talaga for me to relate to the scene, it’s difficult for me to express that specific emotion Direk Cathy wanted from me.

I thought you would say it was difficult because you’re not naman talaga pangit?

LIZA: Oh no, no.. when you watch the movie, the highlight of that scene is not actually the “pangit ba ako.”

ENRIQUE: Yung line na yun sinadya talaga for Liza, yung hidden message siguro noon na kahit gaano ka man kaganda, gaano ka man kayaman, yun ang nangyayari sa babae kapag niloko siya ng lalaki. We actually shot some scenes in South Korea.

What did you discover while filming in South Korea?

LIZA: Since it’s our first time shooting a movie abroad, we discovered that it’s really hard pala to shoot abroad because there’s time limit to each location and we’re all under pressure to finish our scenes as scheduled.

ENRIQUE: We discovered rin kung gaano ka healthy pala yung Korean food at puro vegetable sila. Super enjoy kami sa Korean food.

Napanood ko yung guesting n’yo sa “Gandang Gabi Vice,” where you said mahal mo si Enrique. Does it mean kayo na?

LIZA: No po, we’re still not into relationship but as everybody saw it, parang sinabi ni Tito na he trusts Quen. We’re just happy we’ve earned that trust and we’re in good place right now.

Anong real score n’yo ngayon?

ENRIQUE: M.U… Morag uyab…

Do you go to school now?

LIZA: Yes, Quen and I are going in the same school, Southville International University. It’s like a modular studies. Quen and I are both taking up Business Management.

So, kailan ka matatapos?

LIZA: Maximum of four years.

ENRIQUE: Feeling ko hindi naman siguro tatagal pa ng four years (para maging girlfriend ko siya), siguro in two years’ time or next year pag nakausap na namin si Daddy.

How much do you love each other?

ENRIQUE: Very much… MU… Morag uyab.

LIZA: Naintindihan ko mutual understanding. Pero ano yun mooora kag uyab? Hindi ko maintindihan.

ENRIQUE: Morag uyab, parang magsyota.

LIZA: Sabi n’ya magsyota e hindi tayo magsyota.

ENRIQUE. Morag uyab. Parang magkasintahan.

LIZA: Moraaaag uyab, parang magsyota… ah ok, e di morag uyab. (laughs)
