THE Department of Science and Technology through the Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) announced it is accepting applications for the Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) in line with Republic Act 10612, otherwise known as "Fast-Tracked S&T Scholarship Act of 2013."

DOST Regional Director Brenda Nazareth-Manzano said the deadline for the filing of application for scholarship, which is open to poor, talented and deserving students, is on June 15, 2015.

Manzano said the qualifiers shall be selected based on their performance in the 2015 JLSS Scholarship Examination to be administered on July 12.

Any regular third year college student of school Year 2015-2016 who are currently enrolled in any of the identified institutions and Science and Technology (S&T) priority courses may apply for the scholarship program, said Manzano.

She said the applicants must be a natural-born Filipino citizen; has a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 83 percent or better and no failing grade in his/her first and second year; agrees to teach in the secondary level basic education in public or private high school as return of service (ROS); agrees to any of the approved ROS conditions; and agrees to pay the amounts disbursed with applicable interest, in case of failure to comply with the terms of the ROS.

The qualifiers' benefits are free tuition, book allowance, monthly stipend and post-graduation clothing allowance.

Transportation allowance will also be provided to those studying outside of their home province.

The applicants must submit to the nearest DOST Regional Office or Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTCs) the following documents: accomplished JLSS Information Sheet (Form A); accomplished Certification re-Course and Year Level (Form B); accomplished Agreement to Return of Service (ROS) Conditions (Form C); photocopy of Birth Certificate; two recent (1"x1") pictures; certified True Copy of Grades or Transcript of Records for first and second year levels.
